中国西江首届“游方”之旅盛大开启，带你深入体验苗乡文化的独特魅力
在中国西南部的雷山县，素有“苗族文化中心”美誉的西江千户苗寨景区 Recently, the first "Wandering" trip to Xijiang was held in Xijiang Qianyuan Village, a well-known cultural center of the Miao ethnic group. The event aimed to promote and enhance the local folk culture through unique experiences.
The three-day event attracted participants from more than 50 media outlets and 23 provinces across China, showcasing various aspects of Miao culture. Visitors had the opportunity to participate in traditional activities such as singing and dancing performances, as well as experiencing authentic local customs.
During the festival, a true-life version of "Non-Verbal Dating" was staged at Xijiang Wandering Field. Contestants sang their answers instead of speaking them aloud. A Hainan woman who found love during the event shared her experience: "Although there are Miao people in Hainan too, this is my first time experiencing 'Wandering' here."
On the last day of the festival fell on "Eating New Rice," a traditional activity where villagers gather together to celebrate an abundant harvest season. One visitor asked why they called it "Love Madness Festival." The host explained that it's actually called "Eating New Rice Festival," or sometimes referred to as "Eating Fresh Rice Festival," which marks another important harvest celebration for minority communities.
Intrigued by these traditions, visitors enjoyed home-cooked meals with locals while participating in various cultural events like silver jewelry shopping and trying out different foods like chicken soup and grilled meat dishes. As night fell, beautiful Miao women performed enchanting songs while offering wine cups filled with rice liquor.
Following dinner came an evening program featuring drumming performances by young men accompanied by lively music played on bamboo flutes called “芦笙.” This musical interlude added joyous energy into each gathering place around West Hill’s Drum Pavilion area.
Visitors were drawn towards these rhythmic sounds filling every corner with infectious enthusiasm for sharing moments spent celebrating festive spirit together with fellow travelers from far-off places within our vast country!
